About RISLII

What RISLII is

RISLII is a free service that helps workers in Rwanda understand their rights under the law. You can access it on WhatsApp, Telegram, USSD, SMS, or this website. No registration. No fees. No personal details required.

Why it exists

Rwanda's Labour Code is comprehensive. But for most informal workers — the 90% of Rwanda's workforce without formal contracts — the law might as well not exist. RISLII puts the law in their hands, on the device they already have.

Who built it

RISLII is built and operated by Alveron Computing.

Partnership with MIFOTRA

RISLII is pursuing a formal data partnership with MIFOTRA — Rwanda's Ministry of Public Service and Labour — to ensure the service reflects official government guidance and contributes anonymised compliance intelligence to Rwanda's Labour Market Information System.

Data and privacy

We collect no personal information. We do not store names, phone numbers, or conversation content beyond the active session. We collect anonymised, aggregated data about the types of rights questions being asked — this data helps MIFOTRA understand where labour law violations are happening across Rwanda.
